In existence for over 27-years at Kanoelani Elementary School, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at Kanoelani is as strong and active as ever. In the unit's heyday, membership hovered just over 650-members in a school year. This was back in 1998-99. It was at this time that Kanoelani PTA won numerous state and national PTA awards, including 'Outstanding Local Unit' recognition in 1998-99.
School year 2008-09 was another outstanding success for Your Kanoelani PTA. We recruited over 200-members, raised over 1,000-pounds of food for the Hawaii Food Bank, raised over $20,000 for the school's wish list (science kits, classroom library books, math kits, etc), purchased twenty computers for the school library, and also supported and co-sponsored numerous school events. We also held our very successful 4th annual Jog-A-Thon. Successful again? Yes, but we can always do better.
More important than pure membership numbers is membership participation. Our goal as a unit is to continue the long, proud tradition of maximizing volunteer opportunities for parents, members, and friends alike. Through various annual events, the PTA at Kanoelani continues to sponsor or co-sponsor numerous programs, like the annual craft fair, pumpkin carving night, gingerbread house night, Jog-A-Thon and the Founder's Day celebration. Our school's success depends on PTA members - like you!
Won't you consider joining our wonderful PTA? You too can share in our enthusiasm, and our success. The more involvement, the better it is for our most important people - our children.
