Why should I join PTA?
The better question is 'Why Not?' The immediate benefit you get from becoming a Kanoelani PTA member is the satisfaction of knowing you belong to the biggest child education advocacy group in the United States.
At the local level, you will enjoy many opportunities to participate in PTA-sponsored or co-sponsored activities, often with opportunities to volunteer. You will have a voice in your local PTA events, be able to vote at PTA meetings, and enjoy the benefits of membership with discounts at local area businesses in Waipio Gentry. There are too many reasons to list - just trust us, it's for the greater good!
How much should I volunteer as a PTA member?
A great target to shoot for is 2-hours per school year. There are numerous activities to participate in, as well as standing and ad-hoc committees that could use plenty of help. Of course, more than 2-hours is welcome and appreciated, but some volunteer time is better than no volunteered time. The rewards are well worth the time invested back into PTA! Seriously, we could use the help!
Where's the dues go?
Most of your $10 dues goes to the State and National PTA's to support their efforts in advocating legislation that directly affects the quality of education and school life our children experience on a daily basis. We pay insurance for our Kanoelani PTA unit, and state fees. There's essentially nothing left after that. Even though, it's a great investment into our organization at the local, state and national levels. More than that, you get great discounts at over 20 Waipio-area businesses just by showing your Kanoelani PTA card. McDonald's recognizes us and simply gives us our drinks everytime we go through the drive-thru. Pretty cool, huh!
